Most would agree that the Church of England’s handling of the incident has been poor. The protestors are protesting about points such as “We refuse to pay for the banking crisis” and “We want structural change towards authentic global equality.

I attended an excellent talk by Steve Yates at the Scottish Resilience Conference on Monday and he was talking about business continuity and the Olympics. The big area he was stressing, was not how good the Olympics business continuity plans were, but whether businesses and public organisations are ready for the disruption caused by the Olympics. I personally thought there would be just some transport disruption in London during the actual three weeks of the games; his message was that the games

I was sent an exercise report from a colleague in Shetland who had taken part in Exercise Sulla, an exercise looking at the response to an incident similar to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. I am working on doing some incident training for the team which would respond to an incident. One of the thoughts I have had for a while is, do we actually from learn from reports.

“The next incident is always the one we haven’t thought of…’ I use this phrase during all my training and time and time again it proves to be true; ash cloud, fuel crisis etc. Who would have thought that there would be rioting on the streets of United Kingdom. Dare I say this is the sort of thing we see on the news which other nations do rather than the ‘civilised’ British……I will not comment on the people who are doing the rioting as if you look at any twi
I saw this headline on the online version of The Telegraph today (24th August) “UK retailers lost 30,000 trading hours due to riots” which they say equates to upwards of 1,250 trading days lost.
